Our Brand members have immediate access to an established environmental auditing system that has been developed by the worlds’ leading centre of excellence for the leather industry in conjunction with several major brands and their tanner suppliers.

LWG expects any brands or suppliers that wish to use the LWG protocol to assess their leather supply chain to be fully engaged, paid up members of the Leather Working Group.

Our philosophy on membership is that brands and suppliers fund the group through annual subscriptions, while leather manufacturers are assessed via the LWG Environmental Audit Protocol.

Meetings

The LWG hold two meetings annually, one in March/April to coincide with APLF in Hong Kong and one held in September/October each year.

How We Work

The Leather Working Group is made up of representative parties from different areas of the product supply chain including major brands, tanners, technical experts and other industry representatives. An Executive Committee is elected from the membership of the LWG by its members.

LWG Main Member Meeting – Milan 2018
The LWG, now in its 13th year, held its second full Member Meeting of 2018 in Milan, Italy on Friday 28th September, immediately following the Lineapelle Leather Fair. The full day conference was attended by over 110 delegates, following a productive week of LWG meetings, including a two-day LWG Auditors Meeting and meetings of the Supplier Sub-Group (SSG), Animal Welfare Group (AWG) and the Executive Committee (EC). A Networking Reception was also hosted to allow members to gather in a more informal setting.
